Great product. I wish I had had one of these while I was a music student. It would've been great for my theory courses. Instead of scribbling words all over my staff paper I could have used unruled paper and drawn in a staff whenever I needed one. This item also makes a great gift for composers. |

I discovered the Noligraph in the wonderful Broekmans & Van Poppel shop in Amsterdam nearly three years ago. I have been using it for composing and sketching ever since. It is the most versatile implement for a composer as it allows one to write down a musical idea at any time on any paper to hand, without any need of getting manuscript paper. The composer may design their own stave patterns on a blank page so as to make the page reflect the textures of the music directly. A stave can start half way through a page, where a new part enters, and stop again when not needed. Extra ideas can be added in on new staves inserted at any angle. It makes composing fun again, and makes a nice counterpart to fair copying the final score on computer. Students I have shown the 'Noligraph' invariably want to buy their own. It is a most attractively desinged and useful tool for composers. |
