Seven poems from the fantastic world of Christian Morgenstern's (1871-1914) Galgenlieder have inspired Rainer Lischka to compose these seven pieces for clarinet quartet. Whereas the droll phrases, the play on words and measure, the often astounding train of thought remain reserved for the poems, the musical form is rather independent and has, however, certain references to the poem: it could be a character of action (the "Seufzer" [the "Sigh"] which is skating, "Die Mitternachtsmaus"), or an acoustic imagination (the call of the "Mondberg-Uhu"), the (musical) ambiguity of the title ("Der Zwi") or simply the sound of a word ("Kroklokwafzi").
