Michele Enrico Francesco Carafa de Colobrano (Naples, 17.XI.1787 - Paris, 27.VII.1872) was an important Italian composer of the 19th century. Traditionally destined for a military career by the noble family, he equally managed to follow his inclinations for music by studying with Francesco Ruggi, a pupil of Fedele Fenaroli, at the Neapolitan Conservatory of S. Maria di Loreto ... The piece is characterized by fluid spontaneity of singing ; the tonal path enriches the melody with singular nuances; the orchestration contrasts strings and winds, but the Tutti, as a choral invocation in the moments of expressive intensity of the text, recomposes the unity so that the supplication becomes universal.
