Blavet Concerto a-minor (Flute- 2 Vi.-Bc) (piano red.)

Blavet, who endowed French flute music with the mature and virtuoso character that enabled flautists to vie with the great French violinists of the period, such as Leclair and Anet, composed this concerto in about 1740. The first and last movements, in a purely Italian style, flank a couple of French Gavottes.

Blavet and Leclair are amongst the first French composers who wrote concertos for the flute.
Blavet chose a pair of elegant gavottes as a substitute for the usual slow movement.
Moderately difficult.

Blavet, die de Franse fluitmuziek haar volwassen en virtuoze karakter heeft gegeven zodat het kon wedijveren met de grote Franse violisten van die tijd zoals Leclair en Anet, schreef dit concert omstreeks 1740. De hoekdelen in puur Italiaanse stijl omsluiten een paar Franse Gavottes.

Blavet en Leclair behoren tot de eerste Franse componisten die concerten voor fluit gingen schrijven.
In plaats van een langzaam deel koos Blavet voor twee elegante gavottes.
Voor gevorderden.
