Product description

Dizzy Duets are a set of six duets written in the jazz idiom and should be helpful to both student and teacher in improving technique and style. Although the top part generally has the melody, both parts are of equal importance and difficulty. The tempi should be taken as a guide only and can be altered to suit the standard of the players. In any case it is helpful if the duets are practised slowly at first in order to gain accuracy and flow. Karen Street was born in Burton-on-Trent in 1959 where she began learning the piano accordion at the age of eight. She graduated from Bath College of Higher Education gaining a BA (Hons) degree, and then studied as a post-graduate at the Welsh College of Music and Drama. She has played the saxophone in various ensembles including the Mistral Wind Orchestra, the New Wind Orchestra and the Ivy Benson Band, and has toured with the Royal Shakespeare Company. In addition to teaching at Uppingham School Karen is a member of the extremely successful group ‘The Fairer Sax’. This quartet has appeared at many festivals and music societies throughout the country and has also been a major success at the Edinburgh Fringe Festival and on television.
