'Elementary Snare Drum Studies is intended to be used with an instructor and is not meant to serve as a self instructor. Technical approaches very considerably from teacher to teacher. For this reason, verbal explanations have been kept to a minimum. Sufficient material is presented so that this book can be use either as a beginner's method, if used with the aid of a private teacher, or as a supplementary text to another drum method. And attempt has been made to present the sutdies in a logical and progressive order, however, since every student advances at a fifferent pace there may be need to vary the order of the studies from student to student. The studies are purposely written without much reference to dynamics and tempo infications. In the beginning stages this allows the student to focus on technical and ryhthmic fundamentals.
