Georges Julien Sieber was born in Paris on November 15th, 1775 as son of Jean Georges Sieber. Senior was trained as a hornist and went in 1758 to Paris. There he worked as hornist at the Comédie Française and then at the Opéra. In 1771 Jean Georges Sieber started a music publishing house, which became one of the most important publishing houses in Paris soon.

Georges Julien Sieber joined his father and got from him his education. Soon he founded his own music publishing company. He married in 1798 the daughter of the music publisher Le duc, Anne-Marie Le duc. Georges Julien Sieber took over the publishing house of his father in 1815.

This Nocturne No.2 was published in 1812. It is dedicated to a madam Lafitte.
