Schmitt Trio g-minor Opus 7 No.6 2 Flutes [2 Vi.]-Violoncello (Parts)

After taking holy orders and living in the monastery at Eberbach for some years, Joseph Schmitt settled in Amsterdam as a composer, performer and publisher. Not surprisingly, given the similarity of their styles, his compositions often appeared under Haydn's name. Haydn's London Trios may well have stood model for this Trio, the work of a musician who played a leading role on the Amsterdam music scene as a composer, a conductor of the Felix Meritis orchestra and a publisher of works from the Classical period.

Works for two flutes and cello offer a great combination since many good composers wrote pieces for these three instruments. It adds to its advantage that the greatest part of this repertoire is quite feasible from technical point of view.

Na een aantal jaren als monnik in het klooster van Eberbach te hebben geleefd, vestigde Joseph Schmitt zich in Amsterdam als componist, uitvoerend musicus en uitgever. Zijn werk is vaak onder Haydns naam uitgegeven, wat stilistisch gezien niet verwonderlijk is. Haydns Londoner Trio's hebben wellicht model gestaan voor dit kleine Trio dat werd geschreven door een musicus die in het Amsterdamse muziekleven als componist, als dirigent van het orkest van Felix Meritis en als uitgever van werken uit de klassiek een toonaangevende rol speelde.

De combinatie van twee fluiten en cello is geweldig want veel goede componisten hebben werk voor deze drie instrumenten geschreven. Een voordeel is dat het grootste deel van dit repertoire technisch gezien niet bijzonder moeilijk is.
Eenvoudig.
