Product description

Willem de Fesch was born in Alkmaar on the 26th of August 1687, and died in London on the 3rd of January 1761. The present edition is based on the printed copy published in 1733 by Witvogel in Amsterdam. According to the title page these Trio Sonatas are meant for: Due Flauti à Traverso o Due Violini, Violoncello o Basso Continuo (Two German flutes or two violins, violoncello or basso continuo). This means that De Fesch was thinking of either two flutes or two violins for the upper parts. The bass part may be played on a single violoncello, or by 'continuo' (organ or harpsichord), whether or not reinforced by a supplementary bass instrument (cello, bassoon etc.).
