Louis Drouet - 72 Studies for the Boehm Flute ( 2 Vols).
At a ripe old age Louis Drouet went to America, accompanied by his son, the pianist Louis Drouet junior. It was during that journey that he first encountered the Boehm flute of 1847. Although Drouet had played an old-system flute all his life, he was so enthusiastic about the new invention that he promptly wrote a series of new studies for it. Those studies are published here for the first time in a modern edition. Concisely written, each focuses on a technical aspect such as legato, different articulations, flexibility etc. These studies are among the best ever written for the flute.
In the Flute Series we find a vast range of study material. Drouet’s 72 studies are certainly a most welcome and useful surprise. All his experience after a long and successfull life as a flutist can be found in these etudes that address musical as well as technical problems.
For more advanced players/moderately difficult.
What a pleasure it is to renew acquaintance with these charming studies written by a great 19th-century virtuoso on the old eight-keyed instrument as his response to discovering Boehm’s improved design for the first time. The edition is up to the publisher’s customary high standards. (Pan).
