Haydn's early-classical G major Concerto, the first edition of which was published by Breitkopf & Härtel in 1909, has come down to us without cadenzas. Though the piece calls for cadenzas, they should not be too long or technically demanding, since this would interfere with the transparent and simple structure of the work. The internationally renowned soloist and classical-era expert Thomas Zehetmair was thus entrusted with the challenging task of carefully tailoring two stylistically authentic new cadenzas which we propose here as suggestions.
