The piano cycle Von der Wiege bis zum Grabe was so popular during Reinecke's lifetime that it appeared in innumerable transcriptions, including versions for violin and piano, harmonium, wind band and a host of other instrumental combinations. The well-known flautist Ernesto Köhler made a very effective transcription for flute and piano. These short pieces in the style of Schumann's Romances bring Reinecke's music within the range of players for whom the Sonata or the Concerto might be too difficult.
De pianocyclus Von der Wiege bis zum Grabe was tijdens Reinecke's leven zo populair dat er talloze bewerkingen van verschenen. Deze bewerkingen omvatten o.a. versies voor harmonie-orkest, harmonium, viool en piano en talloze andere instrumentencombinaties. De bekende fluitist Ernesto Köhler bewerkte de cyclus zeer effectief voor fluit en piano. Met deze korte stukken, in de stijl van Schumann's Romances, is Reinecke's muziek ook binnen het bereik van diegenen die nog niet aan de Sonate of het Concert toe zijn.
