The present Capriccio is taken from the volume of studies op. 11 (London, Preston, c. 1800). The title page reads as follows: Seventy Two / Exercises / For the / Harp, / To which is added a / CAPRICIO, [sic] / Including an Abstract of the whole Work / the Fingering by / M.R Dizi, / Composed & Dedicated to the Amateurs / BY F. FIORILLO / OP. 11. It may them be regarded as a self-standing piece, even if it belongs to a collection of studies. Its original title is: The / Modern Chronometre, / A / Grand Capricio. [sic]; there are no indications about the speed, just the words Chronos metron / ad Libitum. Quite peculiarly, at the beginning of the piece there isn't a time signature: almost each measure has a different time.
