About the musician and arranger of this duo, Auguste Schneider is unfortunately little known. He arranged this Hornduos after the opera "Masaniello, ou Le Pêcheur Napolitain" composed by Michele Carafa (1785 - 1872), which was premiered on December 27th. in 1827 at the Opera-Comique in Paris.
The dedicatee Kreube Frederic (1777 - 1846) was conductor at the Opera Comique, violinist, and he also composed many works for the stage.
These duos appeared first in print by Ricordi on 1830.
