The circumstances surrounding the life of Ferdinando Lizio remain unclear. Neither the place nor the exact date of his birth are known, nor do we know anything about his youth and musical education. The booklet that accompanies the CD Italian Bassoon Concertos says that Lizio was teaching flute and oboe at the Pietà dei Turchini Conservatoire of Naples. Only two bassoon concertos survive and they are kept in the library of the Conservatoire S. Pietra a Majella.
