A brief history of our company

The company Broekmans & van Poppel was founded back in 1914 by Mr. van Poppel, former appraisal of the publisher Alsbach, with financial support from Mr. Broekmans. After some years the company was continued by Mr. Willem van der Meer, a violin maker who also was interested in selling sheet music. Soon after the 13-year old P.J.A. (Piet) Ganzinotti started to work at the firm. Especially under his management the Broekmans & van Poppel grew immensely and around this time the erection of the publisher of sheet music was also established.

In 1942 the son of Piet, Giovanni, entered into service and in the following years his three sons, Piet, Ron and Giovanni Jr. took over. From 2011 the firm is run by the three nephews Marco, Wilfred and Robin Ganzinotti.

At the moment the Broekmans & van Poppel has two shops, one in Badhoevedorp and one in Utrecht. Both shops sell sheet music and books about music, both new and second hand. The company has also provided for a large number of publications, especially on the educational level. These include the Dutch translations of the well-known Alfred method for piano and the Flute series with some important and extroardinary works for flute.
