Product description

Handel's masque Acis and Galatea was first performed on the stage in Cannons in 1719. It proved so popular that several scenic and concertante performances followed, and a large number of arrangements for various instruments and combinations of instruments was published - right up to Mozart's 'reorchestration.' The present edition is based on an arrangement for flute and basso continuo published by John Walsh. The keyboard part closely follows Handel's orchestral writing. The publication of this arrangement is designed to provide the flutist with a selection of the best-known arias, judiciously adapted from the original, in a work which has retained its popularity to the present day.
