The present Divertimento was found in the private library of a Leipzig collector of chamber music with viola d'amore. In 1952 he allowed the editor to copy the work. To this date, no further source has emerged. A companion to this quintet is the wonderful Cassation in F major for violin or flute, oboe, viola, two horns and bassoon (cello) (Amadeus BP 1235) from a Viennese private collection.
