The source of this edition is a manuscript probably copied between 1780 and 1799 and kept at the library of San Pietro a Majella Conservatory of Music in Naples. We would like to thank the head librarian who allowed us to publish this piece. The 23 pages are written with a fast handwriting and the indications regarding articulations or slurs are not always accurate. The text does not include any punctuation marks. The spelling is variable (one can find either Hevæ or Evæ for Eve). We have chosen to restore this score in modern notation, remaining as faithful as possible to the copy- ist’s writing. However, we have added the punctuation marks to the Latin text and suggested several slurs (written in parenthesis) or accidentals that seem to be beyond doubt (written in square brackets).
