Wilhelm Popp’s life is little known and a complete and reliable biography is not yet available. He was born on April 29, 1828 in Coburg in Bavaria. He was a pupil of Louis Drouet and Kaspar Kummer and in 1841 he entered the Orchestra of his city at a very young age and was appointed court flutist ten years later… Popp wrote many pieces for flute and piano and the Sérénade de Concert op. 333 is one of the most inspired. Based on the edition number, it can be assumed that the Sérénade was published in 1882…
