Gaetano Chiabrano (1725-1802) was an Italian cellist and composer from the Piedmont region. He came from a family of musicians and was employed by the king of Piedmont in Turin. His uncle, Giovanni Battista Somis, was a renowned violinist. His brothers Francesco and Carlo, also musicians, established careers in London and Paris and took part in at the Concert Spirituel in 1751. There are limited accounts of the lives of the three siblings and there is no evidence that Gaetano has travelled as much as his brothers. Editors: Carlo Colombo, Jean-Christophe Dassonville.
